Interiors: L.A. Home of Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent

I must say, I was rather surprised by the quirkiness of Nate Berkus's and Jeremiah Brent’s L.A. home. Built in 1939, the house itself is a unique blend of mid-century modern and traditional architecture. For example, the living room's modernist wall curves in juxtaposition to a fireplace mantel that's seemingly from a different time. Furnishings range from iconic Knoll to Nate's own line for Target, creating a relaxed and masculine retreat.

Although Nate and Jeremiah are California natives, the home reads a little more East Coast chic than California cool. I can imagine the all-black master bedroom as part of a Manhattan bachelor pad, and the shearing-upholstered armchair seems too cozy for a warm L.A. night. But I suppose this is what should happen when all of life’s experiences come together into a new home; the space becomes a reflection of past, present, and everything in between.
